<br />Gozola provided the Commission with an update on Block B within New Brighton <br />Exchange. He stated United Properties has come forward expressing interest in Block B. <br />He anticipated TIF assistance would be requested from the City because of the challenges <br />to develop this property. <br />b. Banner Project <br />Gillies provided the Commission with an update on the banner project. He explained the I <br />Am New Brighton banner design was selected and a local photographer (Joe Lemke) has <br />taken pictures of 120 participants to date. He reported staff would now review the photos <br />to see which would be incorporated into the banners. He commented further on the <br />project timeline and stated staff would be investigating at how to retrofit existing light <br />poles in order to accommodate the banners. It was his hope the banners would be <br />installed yet this fall. <br />c. Right Sizing Parking Project <br />Gozola reported he has had meetings with Bolton & Menk regarding the right sizing <br />parking project, along with the New Brighton Business Council and Equity Commission. He <br />stated Bolton & Menk was in the process of drafting the first set of regulations and staff <br />would be reviewing this information later this week. He indicated the first draft of this <br />document would be going to the Planning Commission in September. <br />d. Accessory Dwelling Units Grant <br />Gozola reported the Council has identified accessory dwelling units (ADU’s) as a way to <br />address the need for additional housing in New Brighton. He explained the City pursued a <br />grant with the Met Council that would assist with policy development and received just <br />over $36,000 in funding. He anticipated discussions on this topic would begin on <br />September 26. <br />VII.
