Business Items <br />(A) Ordinance 893 – Mixed Use Zoning Districts: Updates to Chapter 6 of the Zoning Code to <br />create new mixed use zoning districts to govern land development in areas guided for Mixed <br />Use Neighborhood and Mixed Use Regional by the City’s 2040 Comprehensive Plan. <br />Assistant Director of Community Assets and Development Gozola reported Ordinance 893 is <br />intended to establish new mixed use zoning regulations for the City. The proposed language <br />would replace existing mixed use requirements with new regulations that follow the <br />recommendations of the recently completed Vision Silver Lake Road 2040 project. Staff <br />provided further comment on the request and recommended approval of the Ordinance. <br />Commissioner Enanaa suggested the reference to “or waived” be removed and that it be <br />replaced with “modified or readjusted”. <br />Commissioner Allen explained she supported the Ordinance as presented. <br />Commissioner McQuillan stated he supported the Ordinance as well. <br />Chair Biedenfeld stated he believed this was a nice foundation and anticipated changes would <br />be necessary as technology advances regarding solar power. He thanked staff for all of their <br />efforts on this document. He explained he was comfortable sending this document onto the <br />City Council. <br />Motion by Commissioner McQuillan, seconded by Commissioner Enanaa, to recommend the <br />City Council approve Ordinance 893 regarding Mixed Use Zoning Districts. <br />A roll call vote was taken. <br />Approved 5-0. <br />VII. Report from City Council Liaison <br />Councilmember Abdulle provided the Commission with an update from the City Council. He stated <br />the City was taking applications from residents interested in assisting with the climate action plan. He <br />anticipated the City would be seeking comment from the Planning Commission on this document as <br />well. He commented on the worksession meeting that was held with local legislators noting the <br />Council discussed 2023 legislative priorities with these individuals.
