Cliff notes regarding
the park are as follows:
 In 1968, this park began with a small neighborhood center, open play areas, a ball
field, and a hockey rink during the winter months. Aerial photos show the tennis
court was added in the late 70’s/early 80’s, and the basketball court was added in
the 1990’s. The hockey rink was removed early last decade for budgetary reasons.
While there have been small changes and updates to the park over the years, this
will be the first major renovation of the park in half a century.
 Residential uses surround the park on all sides.
 The park offers summer programing including half-day daycare during the summer
months.
 Per the Parks Comprehensive Plan, the existing tennis court is in poor condition,
and the amenities in the park feel too crowded and are too close to the
neighborhood center building.
 The ballpark is separated by a steep grade from the rest of the park.

The figure from the 2040 Park and Trail System Master Plan showing existing
amenities in Totem Pole Park is shown on the following page.
