Planning Report <br />Special Use Permit Amendment Review <br /> <br /> <br />To: Planning Commission <br />From: Ben Gozola, Assistant Director DCAD <br />Meeting Date: 5-16-23 <br />Applicants: Global Academy <br />Main Contacts: Brandon Krosch (Building and Grounds Manager) <br />Location: 3000 5th St NW <br />Zoning: R-1 <br /> <br /> <br />Introductory Information <br />Project: Global Academy is proposing to construct a new 20’ x 50’ garage (1000’ sq ft) on the <br />school campus to house grounds keeping equipment. <br /> <br />History: 2018: SUP approved to authorize Global Academy to take over the building/space <br />previous occupied by the United Theological Seminary. Approval resulted Global <br />Academy taking control of the southern 2/3 of the property, and the Seminary <br />retaining ownership of the residence building to the north. Storage rights within the <br />existing garage on the Seminary property was rented to Global Academy. <br /> 2022: United Theological Seminary sells the residence hall property. <br /> 2023: All structures on the residence hall property are demoed to make way for <br />future redevelopment of the land resulting in Global Academy losing all storage <br />space for grounds keeping equipment <br /> Complete application for an SUP Amendment received on 4/11/23 <br /> Planning Commission review & public hearing scheduled for 5/16/23 <br /> <br />Request(s): Special Use Permit amendment to authorize construction of a 20’ x 50’ garage <br />to house grounds keeping equipment. This SUP review will also serve as the <br />City’s site plan review for the proposed improvements. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
