<br />Agenda Section: VI <br />Item: 5 <br />Report Date: 1/19/23 <br />Meeting Date: 1/24/23 <br />REQUEST FOR COUNCIL CONSIDERATION – EXECUTIVE SUMMARY <br />ITEM DESCRIPTION: Consider Resolution Authorizing Application and Execution of the <br />2020 MCES Inflow and Infiltration Grant <br />DEPARTMENT HEAD’S APPROVAL: _________ CITY MANAGER’S APPROVAL: __________ <br /> <br /> Action Requested: ☐ Public Hearing ☒ Motion ☐ Discussion ☐ Informational <br /> Form of Action: ☒ Resolution ☐ Ordinance ☒ Contract/Agrmnt ☐ N/A ☐ Other <br /> Votes Needed: ☒ 3 votes ☐ 4 votes ☐ 5 votes ☐ N/A <br /> <br />Summary Statement: In 2020 the Metropolitan Council Environmental Services (MCES) <br />announced that the State of Minnesota awarded $5 million for <br />eligible municipalities to make capital improvements to public <br />infrastructure to mitigate inflow and infiltration. <br /> Following application, staff received notice that the City was <br />approved to participate in the grant program with a maximum <br />eligible reimbursement amount of $50,000 for inflow and <br />infiltration reduction work taking place between 1/1/2021 and <br />12/31/22. <br /> Staff identified and completed several inflow and infiltration <br />reduction projects between that timeframe which were already <br />identified in the 2021‐2022 CIP and maintenance budgets. The <br />grant funding received will subsequently offset portions of the <br />project costs. <br />Recommendation(s): To adopt the attached Resolution authorizing application and <br />execution of the 2020 MCES Inflow and Infiltration Grant <br />Applicable Deadlines: N/A <br />Legislative History: February 9, 2021 Council authorized submission of the 2020 <br />Municipal Inflow and Infiltration Grant Program <br /> April 29, 2021 A Letter of Intent was received from the <br />Metropolitan Council Environmental Services (MCES) approving
