SUMMARY OF FOCAL POINT IMPACTS SINCE 2015 <br />Business Retention & Expansion: <br />2015 <br />5/6/2015 – Brad Sanford of Twin Cities North Chamber of Commerce was present and discussed Grow <br />Minnesota and his efforts on business retention. He gave ideas on how to help local businesses <br />improving relationships between the City and the local business owner, the business was more apt to <br />remain in the City. <br />8/05/2015 – Todd Kruse, President of the Twin Cities North Chamber of Commerce discussed the <br />regional happenings of the Chamber with regard to housing. Todd was in favor of working with the EDC <br />to engage and grow the business community. Business retention was discussed with an emphasis on <br />how the EDC could be more involved. <br />10/07/2015 – Draft was created how EDC would address business retention and expansion. <br />11/04/2015 – Rob Small, provided the EDC with a presentation on the history of Open to Business, how <br />he helps promote entrepreneurial development in new businesses and discussed how he could assist <br />the City of New Brighton. EDC was in in favor of making a recommendation to the Council regarding <br />Open to Business, while suggesting the EDC formulate a more formal business retention plan. <br />12/02/2015 – Further Discussion on the Open to Business proposal was heard. Return on Investment <br />was a major concern. <br />2016 <br />2/3/2016 – Update/ summarized previous year’s goals and achievements, discussed ongoing business <br />retention efforts. <br />10/05/2016 – EDC was updated on the TIFF management plan and the New Brighton Exchange <br />Dashboard <br />2017 <br />2/01/2017 – EDC heard Reporting on Open to Business and discussed its pros and cons and expressed <br />concerns in continuing the program. <br />2018 <br />2/07/2018 – EDC Heard from and discussed the Open to Business Program and continued with its <br />funding. <br />2019 <br />02/06/2019 – EDC heard and discussed benefits of the Open to Business Program.
