In addition, he stated he appreciated how much the community supported <br />the Public Safety Department. <br />Councilmember Allen welcomed Officer Smith and Officer Super to the City of New Brighton. <br />Mayor Niedfeldt-Thomas thanked Officer Smith and Officer Super for choosing New <br />Brighton. She encouraged these officers to work to build bridges in the relationships they <br />pursue with the community. <br /> <br />2. Ending of Local Public Health Emergency. <br /> <br />Mayor Niedfeldt-Thomas read a statement regarding meetings by telephone or other electronic means noting <br />the local public health emergency has ended and therefore all City meetings would now be conducted in <br />person. <br /> <br />3. Consider Resolution Recognizing Outgoing Commissioners. <br />a. Certificate of Recognition for Robert Boyd. <br />b. Appointing Mike Murlowski a City Ambassador. <br /> <br />City Manager Massopust explained Robert Boyd is leaving the Public Safety Commission after <br />serving 3 terms and is eligible for a certificate recognizing him for his service. All other <br />outgoing Commissioners are leaving after one full or partial term. After 4.5 terms serving on <br />the EDC, Mike Murlowski sold his New Brighton business and left the Commission in summer <br />of 2022. He is eligible for City Ambassadorship. <br />Mayor Niedfeldt-Thomas read a Resolution in full for the record recognizing outgoing <br />commissioners and thanked them for their years of dedicated service to the City of New <br />Brighton. She then recognized Robert Boyd and Mike Murlowski for their many years of <br />service. <br />Robert Boyd stated it has been an honor for him to serve the community on the Public Safety <br />Commission. He believed New Brighton had a tremendous Public Safety Director. He <br />explained he has appreciated how much he has learned over the years while serving the City. <br />Mike Murlowski indicated this was very unexpected and humbling for him. He thanked the <br />staff and City Council for recognizing his service to the community and for appointing him a <br />City Ambassador. He commented on the history of his family in New Brighton noting his <br />father started Bel Air Companies in 1953 and the first office in New Brighton opened in 1962. <br />He noted he came into the business in 1974 and in 1992 he built another building in New <br />Brighton. He stated while he no longer lives and works in New Brighton, this community will <br />always be his home. A round of applause was offered by all in attendance. <br />Councilmember Allen thanked Mr. Boyd and Mr. Murlowski for their tremendous service to <br />the community over the years. <br />Mayor Niedfeldt-Thomas stated she appreciated all of the time Mr. Boyd and Mr. Murlowski <br />dedicated to the City. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Dunsworth, seconded by Councilmember Allen to adopt a Resolution <br />recognizing the outgoing Commissioners. <br /> <br />5 Ayes, 0 Nays - Motion Carried <br /> <br />Consent Agenda <br />1.
