ProclamationCITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in 1962, President Kennedy proclaimed May 15 as National Peace Officers Memorial Day <br />and the calendar week in which May 15 falls, as National Police Week; and <br />WHEREAS, there are more than 800,000 sworn law enforcement officers serving in communities across <br />the United States, including the dedicated members of the New Brighton Department of Public Safety; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, New Brighton Police Officers play an essential role in safeguarding the rights and freedoms <br />of our community members and in protecting the lives and property of all in the City of New Brighton; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, it is important that people throughout our city know and understand the roles and <br />responsibilities of its public safety department and partner with it to ensure the common goal of a safe <br />community; and <br />WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that we express our gratitude for the dedicated service and courageous <br />deeds of our New Brighton Police Officers and for the contribution they have made to the safety and well- <br />being of the City of New Brighton; <br />NOW, THEREFORE I, KARI NIEDFELDT-THOMAS, Mayor of The City of New Brighton, Minnesota <br />do hereby proclaim May 14-20, 2023: <br />Police Week <br />in the City of New Brighton. <br />IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my <br />hand and caused the Seal of the City of New Brighton, <br />Minnesota to be affixed this 9th day of May, 2023. <br />KARI NIEDFELDT-THOMAS – MAYOR
