RESOLUTION NO. _______ <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING A TRANSFER <br />FROM THE WATER UTILITY FUND TO THE SPECIAL PROJECTS FUND <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City creates temporary utility bill accounts for customers requiring <br />temporary use of the City’s utility infrastructure; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, due to the unpredictable nature of temporary accounts, water usage in these <br />accounts are excluded from the annual utility rate analysis; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, revenues generated by these accounts do not affect the overall financial <br />sustainability of the utility funds; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, staff may from time to time request Council’s approval to use the water <br />revenue generated by these accounts for other public purposes, including but not limited to <br />community events and place‐making efforts, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, $35,709 in water revenues were collected from temporary utility bill accounts <br />during the 2022‐2023 winter season. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED the Finance Director is authorized and directed to transfer $35,000 <br />from the Water Utility Fund to the Special Projects Fund, and <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the funds are committed to be used for public purposes as later <br />determined by the City Manager, including but not limited to community events and place‐ <br />making efforts. <br /> <br />Adopted this 23rd day of May 2023 by the New Brighton City Council with a vote of ____ayes <br />and ____ nays. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> ________________________________ <br /> Kari Niedfeldt‐Thomas, Mayor <br /> <br /> <br />Attest: ________________________________ <br /> Devin Massopust, City Manager <br /> <br /> <br />______________________________________ <br />Terri Spangrud, City Clerk
