May 23, 2023 Page 5 of 6 <br />Councilmember Allen discussed how the new sign would provide the school new advertising <br />or sponsorship opportunities. <br />Motion by Councilmember Allen, seconded by Councilmember Axberg to adopt a Resolution <br />approving a Special Use Permit Amendment for ISD 621 authorizing the replacement of <br />the existing athletic stadium scoreboard at Irondale High School with a new multimedia <br />dynamic display board with conditions. <br />4 Ayes, 0 Nays-Motion Carried <br />3.Consider Resolution Accepting Bids and Award of Contract for City Project 23- <br />1, 2023 Street Rehabilitation. <br />City Manager Massopust indicated Director of Community Assets and Development Schlichting would be <br />presenting this item to the Council. <br />Director of Community Assets and Development Schlichting stated the City received six bids for the 2023 <br />Street Rehabilitation project. He reported a bid tabulation has been completed by the Department of <br />Community Assets and Development and all bid totals were verified. The low bid of <br />$1,121,567.15 submitted by Douglas‐Kerr Underground LLC and was twenty percent below <br />the engineer’s estimate of $1,409,000. The low bidder, Douglas‐Kerr Underground LLC, has <br />completed work in the City in the past (Old Highway 8 Intersection Improvements Project) and <br />is qualified and capable of performing work of this kind and magnitude. If awarded, the <br />contract requires project completion by September 30, 2023. <br />Councilmember Abdulle thanked staff for all of their efforts on this reclamation project. <br />Motion by Councilmember Abdulle, seconded by Councilmember Allen to accept all bids and <br />adopt a Resolution awarding a contract for City Project 23‐1, 2023 Street Rehabilitation <br />to the lowest responsible bidder, Douglas‐Kerr Underground LLC, in the amount of <br />$1,121,567.15. <br />4 Ayes, 0 Nays-Motion Carried <br />Commission Liaison Reports, Announcements and Updates <br />Devin Massopust <br />City Manager Massopust invited the public to attend the Memorial Day parade on Monday, <br />May 29 at 10:00 a.m. He stated a ribbon cutting ceremony would be held at Sunny Square <br />Park on Tuesday, May 30. <br />Graeme Allen <br />Councilmember Allen reported he attended the Planning Commission meeting on Tuesday, <br />May 16.
