<br /> <br />Director Fink stated Sunny Square Park was now complete and open to the public. She <br />reported work continues on Hansen Park. She explained staff received a bid number for <br />Totem Pole Park and was pleased to report this came in 25% less than expected. She <br />anticipated work would begin on Totem Pole Park in July. She noted the City received <br />$14,000 from USTA and staff would continue to apply for grant dollars to assist with <br />offsetting costs for the park improvements. <br /> <br />B. Climate Action Plan and Partners in Energy Update - Commissioners <br /> <br />Commissioner Alfors stated top goals have been identified along with action items. She <br />noted the last meeting was spent discussing the action items. <br /> <br />Chair O’Rourke explained a community survey was conducted regarding climate change and <br />information gathered from this survey was reviewed at the last Climate Action meeting. <br /> <br />Fink reported climate change was the topic addressed by staff at the farmers market today. <br />She noted the draft climate action plan would be available on August 28. <br /> <br />C. Summer Meeting Schedule - Jennifer Fink, Parks and Recreation Director <br /> <br />Director Fink stated she understood a few members were not able to attend the July 5 <br />meeting. She explained there were several items that had to be addressed by the <br />Commission in July. She requested Commissioners let her know if they were available to <br />attend the July 5 meeting. She noted the Equity Commission was interested in attending a <br />park tour with PREC. <br /> <br />VII. Announcements <br /> <br />A. City Council Report – Council Member Pam Axberg <br /> <br />Councilmember Axberg provided the Commission with an update from the City Council. She <br />noted the Council discussed wellheads at their May meeting and held a closed session <br />meeting to discuss Block B. She explained the Council would be taking a closer look at the <br />items that were passed by the State legislature. She reported she had the privilege of <br />attending the Sunny Square Park ribbon cutting ceremony. She discussed how pleased she <br />was with the completion of this park and being able to see this park come full circle. She <br />thanked the Commission for all their input stating it was valued by the City Council. <br /> <br />B. PREC Chair Updates – Julia O’Rourke <br /> <br />Chair O’Rourke stated she believed the buckthorn event was fun and she appreciated of the <br />members of the public that were able to attend. She invited the public to attend the <br />summer concert event at Veterans Park on Thursday, June 8 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. <br />Director Fink reported this concert event would celebrat e Juneteenth. <br /> <br />C.
