<br /> <br /> <br /> <br />MINUTES <br />Public Safety Commission <br />April 10, 2023 City Hall <br />Council Chambers 6:30 p.m. <br /> <br />I. Call to Order <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Chair Hollimon. <br /> <br />II. Roll Call: <br />Members Present: Commissioners Liza Allen, Kevin Dostal Dauer, Tom Harkins, Geoff <br />Hollimon, Leah Kuipers, Adam Stout, and Roberto Valdizan. <br /> <br />Members Absent: Commissioner Aisha Ali and Karen Wagner. <br /> <br />Also Present: Director Tony Paetznick, Mayor Kari Niedfeldt-Thomas, and Dave Matteson <br />(Allina Health). <br /> <br />III. Approval of Agenda <br /> <br />Motion by Kuipers, seconded by Harkins to approve the April 10, 2023 agenda as presented. <br />Motion carried 7-0. <br /> <br />IV. Approval of Minutes <br /> <br />Motion by Dostal Dauer, seconded by Valdizan to approve the March 13, 2023 minutes as <br />presented. Motion carried 7-0. <br /> <br />V. Presentations and Business Items <br /> <br />A. Public Safety Commission Work Plan <br /> <br />Director Paetznick reviewed the purpose of the Public Safety Commission. He described the <br />new appointment process that would be followed for the chair and vice chair for the <br />Commission. He reported the new Commissioners would be invited to attend an orientation <br />session at the end of the month. He commented on how the Public Safety Department <br />focusses on the 21st Century Policing policy. He commented on the unique partnership Dave <br />Matteson with Allina Health has with the New Brighton Public Safety Department. <br /> <br />Director Paetznick reviewed the items the Commission addressed in 2022, which included <br />lowering the residential speed limit to 25 miles per hour. He noted the group reviewed the <br />community survey results and reviewed crime stats for the year. He commented on the work <br />that was being done by the Ramsey County Appropriate Response Team noting he
