He commented further on the <br />proposed work plan for 2023 and asked for comments from the Commission. <br /> <br />Discussion included: <br /> The Commission asked how staff relayed information to the City Council. Director <br />Paetznick reported information was relayed to the Council by staff and the Council <br />liaison. <br /> The Commission encouraged staff to review the recently completed Minnesota law <br />enforcement report to see how those pillars can be incorporated into public safety. <br /> The potential of an embedded social worker was discussed. <br /> The Commission thanked staff for the presentation on the 2023 work plan. <br /> <br />VI. Reports and Updates <br /> <br />A. Allina Health – Dave Matteson <br /> <br />Dave Matteson provided the Commission with an update from Allina Health. He reviewed <br />the calls for service along with the response times for January through March. He discussed <br />how the snowstorms impacted response times. He commented on a potential legislative <br />change that would impact ambulance services throughout the state of Minnesota. He <br />commented on how he prepared for President Biden’s visit in Fridley. He noted the <br />alternative response model went live on Saturday, April 8. He stated Allina would be <br />removing their mask mandates on April 18. He commented on the special events that were <br />being scheduled for this summer and how Allina would be covering these events. Further <br />discussion ensued regarding how ambulance/EMT services are funded. <br /> <br />B. City Council Update <br /> <br />Mayor Niedfeldt-Thomas provided the Commission with an update from the City Council. <br />She thanked the Public Safety Department for the work they do with those in crisis in the <br />community. She explained she has been participating in meetings with Representatives <br />McCullum and Mary Jo McGuire. She commented on the banners that would be installed <br />along the Old Highway 8 corridor. She reported the Council approved joining Just Deeds in <br />support of removing racial covenants from the properties in New Brighton. She explained the <br />City Attorney has offered to provide her services pro bono to assist residents with this <br />process. Further discussion ensued regarding the process that would be followed to inform <br />the public on how to remove racial covenants. <br /> <br />Mayor Niedfeldt-Thomas commented further on the legislative priorities the City discussed <br />with local legislators. She noted she attended the regional local mayors meeting where public <br />safety issues were discussed. <br /> <br />Mayor Niedfeldt-Thomas reported the last indoor winter farmers market would be held on <br />Wednesday, April 12. She invited the public to attend an Iftar dinner at the Community <br />Center on April 13. She stated CPY would be holding their annual luncheon on Tuesday, <br />April 18 at 12:00 p.m. and the Rotary would be holding a lunching on Friday, April 21. She <br />indicated the Mounds View School Foundation would be holding a luncheon on Tuesday, <br />April 25. She reported the New Brighton Historical Society would be holding their annual
