A more robust review of the policy will take <br />place in the near future to include additional updates addressing <br />contracts, DEI and other general improvements. <br />Recommendation(s): Approve updates to the Employee Handbook Section 31 titled <br />“Purchasing Policy.” <br />Applicable Deadlines: n/a <br />Legislative History: The Purchasing Policy was first adopted in July 1992 and last <br />amended in February 2010. It is the policy of the City to review <br />and amend financial policies as needed. <br />The City’s 2023‐2024 Strategic Priorities include an initiative to <br />review contracting procedures for equity by the end of 2024. <br />Any updates resulting from this review will be included with <br />other recommended updates to the policy. <br />Current amendments include: <br />A Quick Reference Guide for purchasing agents to use in <br />determining necessary approval levels <br />Updating the purchase range of $25,000 ‐ $100,000 to now <br />read $25,000 ‐ $175,000 to match State Statute <br />Clarifying the City Manager’s approval authority for <br />purchases up to $20,000
