<br />New Brighton Energy Action Plan 19 <br /> <br />Focus Area: Energy Efficiency <br />Strategy 1: Create a long-term energy efficiency campaign to help residents save energy <br />and money <br />Public education and outreach to New Brighton residents will help them understand the programs <br />and resources available to make energy efficiency improvements in their homes and behaviors. <br /> <br />Desired Outcomes: <br />Increased understanding of energy efficiency opportunities among audiences and achieved energy <br />savings. <br /> <br />Actions: <br />1a <br />Work with local social service organizations to <br />communicate opportunities to save energy and <br />money to their networks <br />The City and Partners in Energy will <br />lead this effort in tandem with local <br />organizations recognized by the <br />planning team including youth, food, <br />multi-family, faith and community <br />organizations <br />1b <br />Partner with school sustainability teams or interested <br />educators to connect with students and share energy <br />saving opportunities and challenges <br />The City and Partners in Energy will <br />guide partnerships with the school <br />district, student climate teams and <br />community education to help those <br />partners continue the effort and take <br />leadership of ongoing efforts <br />1c <br />Spread information on multi-family low-income <br />efficiency programs through local agencies and <br />partners <br />Partners in Energy will create multi- <br />lingual marketing materials for the <br />Multi-family Licensing, City <br />inspections and DEI coordination <br />teams to lead these efforts <br />Timeline: Near-term (1–6 months) <br /> <br />Other considerations/partnerships/funding opportunities for this strategy: <br />Potential partners include Northeast Youth and Family Services, Mounds View School District, New <br />Brighton Farmers Market and the Multi-family Housing Coalition. Existing programs and <br />communication channels to use could be the Home Energy Squad, Xcel Energy School Efficiency Kits <br />and School District communication/newsletters.
