and Associates Inc. to provide services for a Comprehensive Park <br />System Plan <br /> February 6, 2019 – Parks, Recreation and Environmental <br />Commission (PREC) voted to recommend the Parks <br />Comprehensive Parks System Plan Steering Committee to <br />Council for appointment. <br /> February 13, 2019 – City Council appoints Parks Comprehensive <br />Parks System Plan Steering Committee. <br /> July 2019 – City Council adopts the City’s new 2040 <br />Comprehensive Plan guiding overall City development for the <br />next thirty years. Plan includes a specific recommendation to <br />undertake a separate and specific comp planning process for the <br />City’s park system. <br /> 2019 – Data collection & evaluation, community engagement, <br />reports on findings, and preliminary recommendations and <br />concepts were drafted. <br /> February 3, 2020 – Park and Recreation Commission (PREC) <br />reviews initial draft plan <br /> March 4, 2020 – City Council reviews initial draft plan and calls <br />for plan finalization. Additional public review held throughout <br />March. <br /> April – August 2020 – Plan finalized for adoption based on PREC, <br />Council, and public feedback. Plan distributed to adjacent <br />jurisdictions for review and comment. <br /> August 5, 2020 – PREC unanimously approves recommendation <br />and adoption of the Comprehensive System Plan to the City <br />Council for adoption and inclusion in the 2040 Comprehensive <br />Plan. <br /> September 15, 2020 – Planning Commission hosts a public <br />hearing and approves forwarding the Comprehensive System <br />Plan to the City Council for adoption and inclusion in the 2040 <br />Comprehensive Plan. <br /> July 27, 2021 – Council approved the sale of abatement bonds to <br />finance park improvements <br /> February 8, 2022 – Council approved a grant agreement with the <br />MnDNR for $250,000 Outdoor Recreation Grant for Hansen Park <br /> October 25, 2022 – Council approved a grant agreement with the <br />MnDNR for $300,000 Outdoor Recreation Grant for Totem Pole <br />Park <br /> February 14, 2023 – Council adopted a resolution authorizing the <br />application for the Minnesota Outdoor Recreation Grant. <br />Strategic Priority: ☒ Sustainable & Reliable Infrastructure ☐ Operational Effectiveness <br /> ☐ Environment & Sustainability ☐ Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion
