<br /> <br />Councilmember Abdulle requested staff speak with the Public Safety Commission regarding this matter in <br />order to receive their input prior to completing the assessment. He supported the assessment having community <br />engagement. <br /> <br />Councilmember Dunsworth inquired if the assessment would have any community engagement. Massopust <br />did not anticipate the assessment would require community engagement. <br /> <br />Councilmember Abdulle feared that something would be missed if the community was not engaged. <br /> <br />Councilmember Allen commented he believed it made sense to complete an organizational assessment, given <br />the fact this change was made 20 years ago. He hoped the department could continue to remain on the cutting <br />edge and he looked forward to what would be learned from this assessment. <br /> <br />Councilmember Axberg noted she was supportive of the assessment. <br /> <br />Mayor Niedfeldt-Thomas indicated she was supportive as well and suggested the scope of study consider a <br />model where other departments would be interested in hiring New Brighton what this would look like. <br /> <br /> <br />Worksession adjourned at 6:24 pm <br /> <br /> <br />Respectfully submitted, <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Terri Spangrud <br />City Clerk <br />
