August 22, 2023 Page 4 of 4 <br />Commission Liaison Reports, Announcements and Updates <br /> <br />Devin Massopust <br />City Manager Massopust reported the Tuesday, September 5 Council Worksession would be <br />held at Hansen Park. He invited the public to attend the end of summer celebration on Friday, <br />September 1 at Veterans Park from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. <br /> <br />Graeme Allen <br />Councilmember Allen reported the Planning Commission did not meet in August. He <br />explained this group would be meeting next on Tuesday, September 19. He indicated he <br />attended a tour of the Exchange Apartments and stated he believed this building was a good <br />addition to the community. He reminded the public that Monday, September 4 is Labor Day <br />and spoke to the contributions in history that positively impacted the labor force and added to <br />the success of the country. <br /> <br />Emily Dunsworth <br />Councilmember Dunsworth reported she attended the Public Safety Commission meeting on <br />Monday, August 14 where the group received a detailed presentation on use of force. She <br />noted she attended the Nine North Joint Powers meeting last week with City Manager <br />Massopust. <br /> <br />Pam Axberg <br />Councilmember Axberg reported Union Gospel Mission Twin Cities opened a cooling center <br />for today and tomorrow. She thanked Ramsey County for partnering with this organization to <br />aid people without shelter during this heat. <br /> <br />Abdullahi Abdulle <br />Councilmember Abdulle encouraged residents to get involved and provide feedback on <br />Ramsey County’s long range plan transportation plan. He commented further on the Met <br />Council’s unified planning work. <br /> <br />Mayor Niedfeldt-Thomas <br />Mayor Niedfeldt-Thomas thanked the New Brighton Lions for all of their hard work on <br />Stockyard Days. She congratulated the recently crowned New Brighton Ambassadors and <br />thanked them for naming her an Honorary Commadore with the Minneapolis Aquatennial. She <br />stated the Equity Commission met on Thursday, August 17 and discussed the City’s potential <br />land acknowledgement statement. She noted cleanup day would be held on Saturday, <br />September 16.
