New Brighton Climate Action Plan 1 -10 <br />This Climate Action Plan includes an implementation framework <br />designed to achieve city-wide goals for GHG reduction and climate <br />adaptation and resilience. The plan is structured around a unifying <br />framework organized by eight community-wide sectors. <br />Using This Plan <br />Each of these sector areas is <br />described in a separate section <br />with background <br />considerations on the subject <br />covered. Sectors have over- <br />arching strategies established <br />to meet 2030 goals and <br />detailed actions for <br />implementation. Sector actions <br />primarily focus on Climate <br />Mitigation, Climate <br />Adaptation, or both: <br /> <br />Strategies: speciflc <br />statements of direction that <br />expand on the sustainability <br />vision and GHG reduction <br />goals and guide decisions about <br />future public policy, <br />community investment, and <br />actions. <br /> <br />Actions: are detailed items <br />that should be completed to <br />carry out the vision and <br />strategies identifled in the plan. <br />Plan Framework <br />Transportation and <br />Land Use <br />Addressing the resilience <br />of on- and off-road <br />vehicles and equipment <br />while reducing their GHG <br />emissions. <br />Water and <br />Wastewater <br />Enhancing fiood and <br />stormwater resilience <br />while reducing GHG <br />emissions from water <br />usage and wastewater <br />treatment. <br />Waste Management <br /> <br />Addressing GHG <br />emissions from waste <br />management and <br />improved community <br />resilience through waste <br />reduction. <br />Local Food and <br />Agriculture <br />Increasing resilience of <br />our food systems and <br />improving food access <br />and security. <br />Greenspace and Trees <br /> <br />Supporting community <br />adaptation through ex- <br />panded green infrastruc- <br />ture and enhanced eco- <br />system resilience. <br />Health and Safety <br /> <br />Improving community <br />resilience through <br />healthy community <br />connections, <br />infrastructure, and <br />systems. <br />Climate Economy <br /> <br />Increasing the prepared- <br />ness of our businesses <br />and workforce and lever- <br />aging economic ad- <br />vantage of climate action. <br />Cross Pollinating <br /> <br />Cross-Pollinating Actions <br />are foundational or <br />organizational <br />recommendations that <br />apply to multiple Sectors. <br />Buildings and Energy <br /> <br />Addressing the resilience <br />of our building inventory <br />and energy supply while <br />reducing their GHG <br />emissions.
