Vehicular entrances to buildings and parking garages that contain a ramp shall be 306
screened from view of the street or adjacent public space in as much as possible. Where a 307
vehicular entrance or ramp directly abuts a pedestrian walk, appropriate cautionary signs 308
shall be used to alert pedestrians of the presence of vehicles and to inform drivers that 309
pedestrians have the priority. 310
(Ord. No. 759, 05-13-2008) 311
Sec.11-030. Minimum Number of Off-Street Parking Spaces Required. 312
(1) Computing Requirements. In computing the number of parking or loading spaces required 313
the following rules shall govern: 314
A. Gross floor area of the specific use is calculated on the basis of the exterior floor area 315
dimensions of the building, structure or use, multiplied by the number of floors. 316
B. When determining the number of off-street parking spaces, fractional results are 317
rounded up to the nearest whole number. 318
C. Except as provided for under joint parking and shopping centers, if a structure contains 319
two or more types of use, the area of each use shall be calculated separately in 320
determining the total number of off-street parking stalls required. 321
(2) Accessible Parking. For all uses where automobile parking spaces are provided except 322
single- and two-family residences, accessible parking facilities for persons with disabilities must 323
be provided for accessible parking, and shall be identified for such use in accordance with all 324
applicable state regulations. 325
A. The number and type of accessible parking spaces to be provided shall be based upon 326
the US Access Board Guide to the ADA Accessibility Standards, Chapter 5. Accessible 327
parking spaces are required for each parking facility on a site, such as lots and garages. 328
Requirements apply equally to public and employee or restricted parking. On sites with 329
multiple parking facilities, the minimum number of accessible spaces must be calculated 330
separately for each parking facility instead of on the combined total of parking spaces 331
provided on the site. 332
B. At least one of every 6 accessible spaces, or fraction of 6, in each parking facility must 333
be sized to accommodate vans. 334
C. Such parking shall be located as close as practicable to a building entrance providing 335
improved accessible ingress into the main lobby or corridor of the building. A 336
continuous, permanently designated pathway at grade shall be provided which links the 337
parking spaces to the building entrance. Such pathway shall be made of concrete, asphalt 338
paving, or similar permanent material with a slip-resistant surface, at least 48 inches wide 339
and with a slope not to exceed one vertical to twenty horizontal. 340
