<br />: <br /> <br />Jl <br /> <br />'- <br /> <br />CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. ..2..1.::064 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION REQUIRING FIRE PROTECTION <br />SPRINKLING SYSTEMS IN CERTAIN BUILDINGS <br />FINANCED OR ASSISTED WITH PUBLIC FUNDS <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Council of the City of New Brighton wishes to encourage safe <br /> <br />building standards whenever reasonably possible; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, fire protection sprinkling systems are 96 percent effective, save <br />lives, and have never allowed multiple deaths to occur in buildings with fire <br /> <br />sprinkler systems; and <br />WHEREAS, fire protection sprinkling systems are cost effective, providing a <br /> <br />payback in cost saving, and are usually no more than 1 to 2 percent of the total <br /> <br />development cost; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Council of the City of New Brighton has a strong commitment <br /> <br />to ensure the safety of its citizens and its fire fighters; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of New <br /> <br />Brighton that all newly constructed residential buildings of two units or more <br />requiring any public financing or financial assistance from the City approved after <br /> <br />the date of this resolution shall be required to have approved fire protection <br /> <br />sprinkling systems installed; and that the city manager is authorized and directed <br /> <br />to take such steps as are necessary to implement this resolution. <br /> <br />Dated: 27 Aor i1 <br /> <br />, 1993. <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br /> <br />CLL51318 <br />NE136-21 <br />
