<br />t <br /> <br />" <br /> <br />f <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 93-056 <br /> <br />~. <br /> <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> <br />RESOLUTION RELATING TO THE RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE REGIONAL <br />SENIOR CITIZENS CENTER TASK FORCE AS PRESENTED ON MARCH 30, 1993 <br /> <br />:1 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in September, 1992 a 21 -member Task Force was established by the City <br />Councils of the Cities of Fridley, New Brighton, MoundsView, and Spring Lake Park with <br />the charge of studying the need for senior citizens' services and how the four cities <br />could work together to meet the program and facility needs for our joint senior <br />populations; and <br /> <br />~ ; <br />'j <br />i <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Task Force met nearly 30 times to complete their work including a series <br />of public information meetings in the four cities; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Task Force presented its findings to the four City Councils on March 30, <br />1993, with the recommendation that the four cities jointly construct and operate a <br />regional senior citizens center; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in order for further consideration of the Task Force Report to proceed in an <br />orderly and timely manner, it is desirable that each City Council indicate their interest in <br />continuing to explore such a joint venture no later than June 15, 1993. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City of New Brighton that the City Council <br />expresses preliminary interest in pursuing the construction of a regional senior citizen <br />center with the Cities of MoundsView, Fridley, and Spring Lake Park; and to aid in <br />gathering the information needed to make a final decision staff is authorized to proceed <br />with the drafting of a proposed joint powers agreement. <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said agreement will spell out in more detail such issues <br />as the timing, location, and financing of such a facility along with a proposed <br />governance model and other factors needed for the City to make a formal decision on <br />the Task Force recommendation. <br /> <br />BE IT STILL FURTHER RESOLVED to that end, the City of New Brighton feels that the <br />following issues should be addressed in order for such a formal decision to occur: <br /> <br />Adopted by the City Council this 13th day of March , 1993. <br /> <br />- ,- <br />, <br />~~. <br />. -~ i <br />;1 <br />".1., <br /> <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />..~ <br />~;i-p/'./. <br />Robert;' .
