<br />Iv <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 93-007 <br /> <br />CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION SUPPORTING AN ADMINISTRATIVE FEE INCREASE FOR THE <br />DEPUTY REGISTRAR - DNR SERVICES <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Minnesota Legislature has not increased the $1.00 administrative fee for <br />processing drivers licenses since 1973; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the SOt administrative fee for processing Department of Natural Resources <br />licenses such as boats and snowmobiles has not been increased since 1971; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the cost ofliving index (CPI) has increased more than 20% during the past <br />20 years; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, public and private deputy registrars which provide drivers licenses and DNR <br />license services to public lose money on each transaction because the administrative fee has failed <br />to keep pace with inflation; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the administrative deputy registrars fee charge for handling motor vehicle <br />transactions has increased from 75t to $3.50 during the same 20 year time period; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the membership of the Minnesota Deputy Registrars Association has passed <br />a resolution at their annual meeting requesting that the administrative fees for driver's licenses, <br />boats, snowmobiles, and ATV's be increased to $3.50. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved that the City Council supports legislation that will <br />increase the administrative fees to $3.50 for all services provided by Deputy Registrars in <br />Minnesota. <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOL YED, that the Council encourages the Association of <br />Minnesota Counties (AMC) to adopt a similar policy as part of their legislative program for 1993. <br /> <br />Adopted this --.2..6- day of January , 1993. <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />Attest: <br /> <br /> <br />
