<br />. <br />.. <br /> <br />-i <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO~54A <br /> <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF OPTICAL SCANNER <br />ELECTION ALTERNATIVES <br /> <br />Whereas, the recent redistricting placed the community in two <br />legislative districts; <br />Whereas, to accommodate the two districts, a separate precinct <br />7 was established; <br />Whereas, to minimize election costs and for the convenience of <br />the voters, pike Lake School was selected as the polling place <br />for precinct 7; <br />Whereas, at one time, alternative 4 - tabulate precinct 7's <br />ballots after the close of the precinct - was considered the <br />preferred choice; <br />Whereas, since the original recommendation was presented, <br />al ternati ves 3 and 2 , respectively, have emerged as more <br />attractive and affordable options; <br /> <br />Now, therefore be it resolved that: <br /> <br />1. Staff is directed to secure alternative 3, if possible. <br />2. In event that acquisition of alternative 3 is not practical <br />then staff is directed to secure alternative 2. <br />3. No further Council approval shall be necessary provided <br />that alternatives 2 or 3 can be obtained at cost not to exceed <br />$4,000. <br />4. In event that neither alternative 2 or 3 can be obtained <br />then staff will prepare for the election using alternative 4. <br />5.
