<br />Page 1 - May 2, 2006 New Brighton Council Minutes <br /> <br />L <br /> <br />I "'~, "" "'" '" ,.. <br /> <br />COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS <br /> <br />CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> <br />Pursuant to notice thereof, a special meeting of the New Brighton aty Council was held <br />Tuesday, May 2, 2006, at 4:00 p.rn. in the Council Chambers at New Brighton City Hall. <br /> <br />Present: <br /> <br />Council Members: Doffing, Bauman, Hoffman, and Burg <br /> <br />Absent: <br /> <br />Mayor Larson <br /> <br />Also Present <br /> <br />Matt Fulton - City Manager, Charlie LeFevere~City Attorney, Grant Wyffels- <br />Director of Public Works <br /> <br />Council Aflenda - <br />Approval of May 2, 2006 Council Agenda. <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member Hoffman, seconded by Council Member Burg to approve <br />,e agenda as presented. <br /> <br /> <br />4 Ayes - 0 Nays, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Council Business <br /> <br />1. Consideration of bids and award contract for Project 06-1, Northwest <br />Quadrant Phase 1 Stockpile Disposal. Report No. 06-095. <br />Resolution No. 06-033. <br /> <br />Director of Public Works, Grant Wyffels explained that in September of 2005 the <br />City entered into a mediated settlement agreement with Midwest Asphalt, in this <br />agreement the City is obligated to award any bids to Midwest Asphalt for services <br />they offer; provided the were competitively priced. <br />Staff felt that the bid of $577,600.00 is a fair price, and reconnnends awarding the <br />bid to Midwest Asphalt. <br />Council Member Burg questioned whether there were any other reasons that <br />Midwest Asphalt was the best choice. <br />Mr. Wyffels explained that because of the settlement agreement we were obligated, <br />frovided the cost was acceptable. <br />_ouncil Member Doffmg stated the proximity of Midwest Asphalt also was <br />dvantageous. <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member Hoffman, seconded by Council Member Burg to adopt a <br />resolution accepting the bid from Midwest Asphalt and awarding a contract for City <br />Project 06-1, Northwest Quadrant Phase I Stockpile Disposal in the amount of <br />$577,600. <br /> <br />Council Al!enda <br />Council Agenda from May <br />2, 2006. <br /> <br />Council Business <br /> <br />1.
