I To the Mayor, City Council, Economic Development and Planning Committees of the City of New Brighton, Minnesota: We the undersigned registered voters of the City of New Brighton are opposed to a hotel or motel on the Brighton Village site. The Brighton Village site lies 1 1/2 blocks from the Pike Lake Elementary School grounds and Freedom Park to the north and 1 1/2 blocks from Highview Middle School grounds on the south. A hotel or motel intending to draw clientele from it's visibility and proximity to Interstate 694, we believe, would compromise the safety of the children in our community and therefore does not belong near a residential area. We expect the Mayor, the City Council, the Economic Development Committee and the City Planning Committee to exercise due diligence in evaluating any proposal for development on this site, including thorough study and consideration of the community, infrastructure and environmental impact.
