.,~-."- I Dear New Brighton City Council Member: I/we are not in support of the sedimentation pond plans for Pike Lake for the following reasons: 1) Removal of more than 500 mature trees; loss of natural areas, habitat, and 1.5 acres of wetlands 2) Increase in highway noise from the loss of trees 3) Disruption and probable loss of the egret and heron populations 4) Installation of a huge pond that may not improve much of the lake water quality (It is estimated that only 5% of the water entering Pike Lake will be treated through the proposed sedimentation pond.) 5) Future weed growth and odor problems in pond are a great concern I 6) Pond will provide an attractive danger to the neighborhood children 7) Does not address lakeshore flooding problems after heavy rains The New Brighton residents of the Pike Lake area are the ones who have to live with the Council's decisions.
