<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS <br /> <br />CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> <br />Pursuant to notice thereof, a regular meeting of the New Brighton City Council was held Monday, May 24, 1999, at <br />7:30 p.m. in the municipal building, 803 Old Highway 8 NW. <br /> <br />Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Benke, Councilmembers Gunderman, Hoffman, and Larson. <br /> <br />Absent: <br /> <br />Councilmember Samuelson <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />Jill Bishop, Economic Development Specialist <br />Matthew Fulton, City Manager <br />Mark Nelson, Councilmember of the Month <br />Cary Teague, City Planner <br /> <br />Council A~enda <br /> <br />Motion by Larson, seconded by Hoffman, to APPROVE THE COUNCIL AGENDA. <br /> <br />4 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Council Minutes <br /> <br />Motion by Gunderman, seconded by Hoffman, to WAIVE THE READING AND <br />APPROVE THE MAY 11, 1999, COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES. <br /> <br />4 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Commission Minutes <br /> <br />Mayor Benke, with Council consent, received the minutes of the Economic Development <br />Commission - April 13, 1999; Planning Commission - April 20, 1999; and Public Safety <br />Commission - March 31, 1999. <br /> <br />Special Order of Business <br /> <br />Council recognized three members of the Communication Advisory Commission; Lynn <br />Redlinger, Ruth Mason, and Jamie Green. These individuals were inducted into the CTV <br />Hall of Fame recognizing the number of hours they have volunteered toward municipal <br />cable productions. Andre Barte, New Brighton Cable Technician, was given a Municipal <br />Access A ward, recognizing his six years as a municipal access producer. Council <br />commended all for their quality programming on New Brighton Channel 16. <br /> <br />June Cormican, New Brighton Post Office, said their facility, 1255 Old Hwy 8 NW, has <br />become inadequate and wish to relocate somewhere within New Brighton. The Postal <br />Service has expressed a desire to work in partnership with the City to consider options. <br /> <br />Steve Muyskens, Postal Service, explained the procedure for requesting a new site <br />involves holding public hearings, and posting notices for existing or new sites within a <br />preferred area. Afterwards, a site review would rank the identified sites, and the Postal <br />Service would notify the City requesting comments.
