<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS <br /> <br />CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> <br />Pursuant to notice thereof, a regular meeting of the New Brighton City Council was held Tuesday, April 27, 1999, at <br />7:30 p.m. in the municipal building, 803 Old Highway 8 NW. <br /> <br />Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Benke, Councilmembers Gunderman, Hoffman, Larson, and Samuelson. <br /> <br />Absent: <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />Mary Bitzan-Hieb, Police Officer <br />Margaret Egan, Finance Director <br />Matthew Fulton, City Manager <br />Joan Kelly, Councilmember of the Month <br />John Kelley, Police Chief <br />Charlie LeFevere, City Attorney <br />Brian Olson, Civil Engineer <br />Cary Teague, City Planner <br /> <br />Council Agenda <br /> <br />Motion by Gunderman, seconded by Hoffman, to APPROVE THE COUNCIL <br />AGENDA. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Council Minutes <br /> <br />Motion by Samuelson, seconded by Hoffman, to WAIVE THE READING AND <br />APPROVE THE APRIL 13, 1999, COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES. <br />~ <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Commission Minutes <br /> <br />Mayor Benke, with Council consent, received the minutes of the Economic Development <br />Commission - March 9, 1999; and Planning Commission - March 16, 1999. <br /> <br />Special Order of Business <br /> <br />Police Chief John Kelley presented a $600 scholarship from the Minnesota Law <br />Enforcement Explorer Association to Community Service/Reserve Officer Tony <br />Paetznick. Through Paetznick's diligent work with the New Brighton Explorers Post, the <br />Explorers have held many state and national competition honors over the years. <br />Paetznick is continuing his law enforcement education and will enter the Skills Program <br />at the University of St. Thomas. Officer Mary Bitzan-Hieb presented the scholarship to <br />Paetznick to deter the cost of the Skills program, and recognize his excellent leadership <br />with the Explorers.
