There will be a worksession before the Council meeting to review Municipal <br />Advisory Commission applications. <br /> <br />December 22 meeting <br /> <br />Due to expected absences, Benke recommends the January 12, 1999, Council meeting <br />be rescheduled to January 7, 1999. <br /> <br />January 12 meeting <br /> <br />Motion by Larson, seconded by Samuelson, to RESCHEDULE THE JANUARY 12, <br />1999, COUNCIL MEETING TO JANUARY 7, 1999, 7:30 P.M. <br /> <br />4 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />The Council/Staff Team Building Retreat will be held January 29 and 30, 1999. Council/staff retreat <br /> <br />Benke was contacted by a resident who wished to cast an absentee ballot three days prior Absentee Ballot <br />to Election, but was advised that the City does not accepts absentee ballots a week prior <br />to election. Egan confirmed that New Brighton does accept absentee ballots, but voting <br />facilities are not available at City Hall. In order for the City to provide absentee voting, <br />Ramsey County requires the City Hall to be open the Saturday and Monday night prior <br />to election. Egan will review the details of this case, and provide follow-up to Council. <br /> <br />Benke asked if there would be any changes to precincts prior to the 1999 Election. Egan Ballot Scanners <br />does not anticipate any changes. Egan noted mechanical problems with the ballot <br />scanners which are under a State of Minnesota maintenance agreement serviced by a <br />sole vendor. Egan questioned if a sole vendor could provide quality services to all <br />election locations. <br /> <br />Police Chief John Kelley announced that the New Brighton Police Department's Santa <br />Cop Program is underway.
