In several municipalities, technical difficulties were discovered that make separation of area codes along municipal boundaries difficult. The identified impacted area of New Brighton is the triangular section in the northern most portion bordered by Co, Rd, H" the railroad ROW, and the eastern border of the City, This area includes 425 residences, and Sunnyside and lrondale Schools. New Brighton believes the area code split will cause inconvenience and confusion to our residents, businesses, and others, It is in the best interest of the City to recommend to the PUC to retain its original order to divide area codes along municipal boundaries, Samuelson asked if it would be realistic for the entire area of New Brighton to remain in the "612" area code, Fulton believes that at this time, retaining "612" would not be a practical or possible solution, Motion by Samuelson, seconded by Larson, to WAIVE THE READING AND ADOPT THE RESOLUTION RECOMMENDING THAT THE MINNESOTA PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION MAINTAIN ITS POSITION REQUIRING AREA CODE CHANGES TO BE SPLIT ALONG MUNICIPAL BOUNDARIES. 3 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried, Announcements and Updates The public is invited to attend the 21st Annual Town Hall Meeting on March 14, Samuelson remarked how much the Council appreciated Gregori's interest in his work on the Council, and he will be truly missed, Larson added that it has been a very difficult week and noted his condolences to Gregori's family, Adjournment _--.--Motlbnby Larson, seconded by Samuelson, to ADJOURN THE MEETING. 3 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried.
