<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />March 12, 1998 <br /> <br />Page 4 <br /> <br />Council Business. continued <br /> <br />It has come to the City's attention that U,S, West will have difficulty meeting the Order. <br />In several municipalities, technical difficulties were discovered that make separation of <br />area codes along municipal boundaries difficult. The identified impacted area of New <br />Brighton is the triangular section in the northern most portion bordered by Co, Rd, H" <br />the railroad ROW, and the eastern border of the City, This area includes 425 <br />residences, and Sunnyside and lrondale Schools. <br /> <br />New Brighton believes the area code split will cause inconvenience and confusion to our <br />residents, businesses, and others, It is in the best interest of the City to recommend to <br />the PUC to retain its original order to divide area codes along municipal boundaries, <br /> <br />Samuelson asked if it would be realistic for the entire area of New Brighton to remain in <br />the "612" area code, Fulton believes that at this time, retaining "612" would not be a <br />practical or possible solution, <br /> <br />Motion by Samuelson, seconded by Larson, to WAIVE THE READING AND ADOPT <br />THE RESOLUTION RECOMMENDING THAT THE MINNESOTA PUBLIC <br />UTILITIES COMMISSION MAINTAIN ITS POSITION REQUIRING AREA <br />CODE CHANGES TO BE SPLIT ALONG MUNICIPAL BOUNDARIES. <br /> <br />3 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried, <br /> <br />Announcements and Updates <br /> <br />The public is invited to attend the 21st Annual Town Hall Meeting on March 14, <br /> <br />Samuelson remarked how much the Council appreciated Gregori's interest in his work <br />on the Council, and he will be truly missed, <br /> <br />Larson added that it has been a very difficult week and noted his condolences to <br />Gregori's family, <br /> <br />Adjournment <br /> <br />_--.--Motlbnby Larson, seconded by Samuelson, to ADJOURN THE MEETING. <br /> <br />3 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Meeting was adjourned at 5:21 p.m, <br /> <br />~~ <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />I M~~~ Clerk <br /> <br />Council Business <br /> <br />Area Code Changes <br />Report 98-032 <br />Resolution 98-024 <br /> <br />Announcements and <br />Updates <br /> <br />Town Hall Meeting <br /> <br />Gregori <br /> <br />Gregori <br /> <br />Adjournment <br />
