<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS <br /> <br />CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> <br />Pursuant to notice thereof, a regular meeting of the New Brighton City Council was held Tuesday, November 25, 1997, <br />at 7:30 p.m. in the municipal building, 803 Fifth Avenue NW. <br /> <br />Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Benke, Councilmembers Gunderman, Larson, Rebelein, and Samuelson. <br /> <br />Absent: <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />Matthew Fulton, City Manager <br />Barbara Jeanetta, Assistant to the City Manager <br />John Kelley, Police Chief <br />Erny Mattila, City Planner <br />Tom Terry, Planning Assistant <br /> <br />Mayor Benke welcomed Councilmember of the Month Dan Vroman. <br /> <br />Council Agenda <br /> <br />Motion by Gunderman, seconded by Samuelson, to APPROVE COUNCIL AGENDA. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Council Minutes <br /> <br />Motion by Samuelson, seconded by Rebelein, to WAIVE THE READING AND <br />APPROVE THE NOVEMBER 10, 1997, COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Commission Minutes <br /> <br />Mayor Benke, with Council consent, received the minutes of the Communications <br />Advisory Commission - October 9, 1997; Economic Development Commission - October <br />14, 1997; Planning Commission - October 21, 1997; and Public Safety Commission- <br />October 14, 1997. <br /> <br />Special Order of Business <br /> <br />Assistant to the City Manager Barbara Jeanetta presented the Communications Advisory <br />Commission (CAe) annual report. The members of the commission are: Pat Culbert, <br />David Eichers, Kim Moore-Sykes, Lynn Redlinger, Doug Isiminger, Ruth Ann Mason, <br />and Jamie Green. In August, the CAC was renamed to better reflect additional <br />responsibilities in all aspects of City publications and communications. <br /> <br />Commissioner Culbert said the CAC's emphasis is to produce programming of interest to <br />Channel 16 viewers. Students and interns produced eighty hours of programming which <br />contributed to the 4,200 hours of annual programming. Productions include: Planning <br />Commission meetings, Westward Ho Project, New Brighton NOW, Paces and Places, <br />Shine On Business, Talk of the Town, and others. Receipt of several grants provided for <br />no increase in the 1998 budget.
