<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS <br /> <br />CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> <br />Pursuant to notice thereof, a regular meeting of the New Brighton City Council was held Tuesday, August 12, 1997, <br />at 7:30 p.m. in the municipal building, 803 Fifth Avenue NW. <br /> <br />Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Benke, Councilmembers Gunderman, Larson, Samuelson and Williams. <br /> <br />Absent: <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />Matthew Fulton, City Manager <br />Barbara Jeanetta, Assistant to the City Manager <br />Charlie LeFevere, City Attorney <br />Kevin Locke, Community Development Director <br /> <br />Mayor Benke welcomed Councilmember of the Month, Patrick Culbert. <br /> <br />Council Agenda <br /> <br />Benke added a proclamation to the Special Order of Business Agenda. Gunderman added <br />a discussion relating to a park referendum to the Council Business agenda. <br /> <br />Motion by Gunderman, seconded by Benke, to APPROVE THE AMENDED <br />COUNCIL AGENDA. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Council Minutes <br /> <br />Motion by Williams, seconded by Gunderman, to WAIVE THE READING AND <br />APPROVE THE JULY 28, 1997, SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Commission Minutes <br /> <br />Mayor Benke, with Council consent, received the minutes of the Public Policy <br />Commission - May 28, 1997. <br /> <br />Special Order of Business <br /> <br />Benke noted that Russell Peterson, a passionate supporter of the Antique Car Run, Board <br />member, and reliable volunteer, died in June. In memory of this special New London <br />friend, New Brighton will proclaim Saturday, August 23 as Russell Peterson Day. <br /> <br />Mayor Benke PROCLAIMED SATURDAY, AUGUST 23, 1997, AS RUSSELL <br />PETERSON RECOGNITION DAY IN THE CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON. <br /> <br />Williams submitted his resignation as Councilmember effective, Sunday, August 24, <br />1997, at 6:00 p.m. He has purchased a home outside New Brighton. He thanked New <br />Brighton residents for having confidence in his representation over the last 12 years, and <br />it has been his honor to serve with fellow Councilmembers.
