Director of Public Works GMvV CITY MANAGER'S APPROY AL: ",AfY" No comments to supplement this report Comments attached Recommendation: To approve Change Order No. I and authorize final payment on Project 05-], Rice Creek Road Reconstruction, to Central Landscaping, Inc. in the amount of $33,981.1 0, Legislative History: Project 05-], Rice Creek Road Reconstruction, was ordered by the Council at a public improvement hearing on March 22, 2005, and a construction contract was awarded to Central Landscaping, Inc. on May 24,2005. Construction was substantially completed in 2005. . Financial Impact: The original engineer's estimate approved by the Council when ordering the project was $972,780, The original contract amount based on estimated quantities was $877,830.64 and the final constmction contract amount based on actual quantities is $939,797.32. The attached Change Order No.1 addresses the increase in contract costs in the amount of $61,966.68. The increase in cost is related to payment of actual final quantities verses estimated quantities, and the addition of miscellaneous items such as extra work on the signal loop detectors at Silver Lake Road and the reconstruction of manholes and catch basins. Explanation: This project consisted of the reconstruction of Rice Creek Road between Stinson Boulevard and Long Lake Road. The roadway was widened from a 24 feet mral section with gravel shoulders and drainage ditches to a 32 feet wide urban section with concrete curb and gutter. Also under this contract, the watermain was replaced between Silver Lake Road and Long Lake Road, and storm sewer was installed in order to eliminate the drainage ditches and install the new curb and gutter, Central Landscaping, lnc, has satisfactorily completed the construction work under the contract and the Engineering Department has accepted the work. Costs and Funding: The construction contract costs, as well as other project costs, will be funded from a combination of Municipal State Aid Street funds, special assessments, Storm Water Utility funds, Water System Replacement funds, and a Ramsey County contribution. An Assessment Hearing for this project wi II be held in October of this year at wh ich time a report and breakdown of the total project costs will be presented to the Council. f}00.~ Bob Rutherford ' Engineering Department .
