<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS <br /> <br />CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> <br />Pursuant to notice thereof, a regular meeting of the New Brighton City Council was held Wednesday, December 11, <br />1996, at 7:30 p.m. in the municipal building, 803 Fifth Avenue NW. <br /> <br />Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Benke, Councilmembers Gunderman, Larson, Samuelson and Williams. <br /> <br />Absent: <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />Margaret Egan, Finance Director <br />Matthew Fulton, City Manager <br />Jill Hanson, Economic Development Specialist <br />Kevin Locke, Community Development Director <br />Les Proper, City Engineer <br /> <br />Mayor Benke welcomed Councilmember of the Month George Gregori. <br /> <br />Council Agenda <br /> <br />Motion by Gunderman, seconded by Samuelson, to APPROVE THE COUNCIL <br />AGENDA. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Council Minutes <br /> <br />Motion by Samuelson, seconded by Williams, to WAIVE THE READING AND <br />APPROVE THE NOVEMBER 26, 1996, COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Commission Minutes <br /> <br />Mayor Benke, with Council consent, received the minutes of the Public Safety <br />Commission - October 17, 1996. <br /> <br />Special Order of Business <br /> <br />Mayor Benke PROCLAIMED DECEMBER 3, 1996, AS KATHLEEN PICKERING <br />DAY IN THE CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON. <br /> <br />Pickering has been involved in girl scout activities in the New Brighton area for 18 years. <br /> <br />Council A~enda <br /> <br />Council Minutes <br /> <br />Commission Minutes <br /> <br />Special Order of <br />Business <br /> <br />Pickering <br />Proclamation <br /> <br />Public Policy Commission (PPC) Chair Dee Lere explained that the PPC consists of the PPC Annual Report <br />following members: Marritta Gould, Nelson Hard, Jerry Hartlaub, Gary Horn, Dee <br />Lere, JoAnn Matson, Brett Reynolds, Dan Vroman, Kurt Blumberg, Council <br />Representative Williams, and staff liaison Pat Lindquist. It is her pleasure to work with <br />people of such high caliber who are dedicated, hardworking, and professional. Their <br />mission is to research issues and carry out projects assigned by Council; organize and <br />host the annual Town Hall meeting; and identify City policies that need change. In 1996, <br />the PPC addressed four issues: Councilmember of the Month Program, Town Hall <br />Meeting, Leadership New Brighton Program, and Election Focus Program. <br />
