The resignation of the City's full- <br />time Fire Marshal in 1995 required analysis of alternative ways to provide this service to <br />the businesses and community. An RPP was sent to over 20 Pire Department'l and <br />advertisements were placed and two proposals were received. Staff recommends <br />retaining MWB Fire Protection Enterprises which is a business established by former <br />Pire Marshal Mark Bishop who continues to serve as a New Brighton Pirefighter. <br /> <br />Motion by Gunderman, seconded by Larson, to AUTHORIZE MAYOR AND CITY <br />MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT WITH MWBFIRE <br />PROTECTION ENTERPRISES FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROVIDING FIRE <br />INSPECTION SERVICES FOR 1996, AT A RATE OF $1,830/MONTH. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Fulton presented an amendment to the City's Massage Ordinance. Currently, there is <br />one stand-alone beauty salon facility in an R-l, Single Family Residential district. This <br />facility is a legal non-conforming use and no portion is used for residential purposes. <br />The amendment would allow therapeutic massage in such a facility as an accessory use. <br />The primary use would need to comply with the Massage Ordinance. <br /> <br />Motion by Samuelson, seconded by Williams, to WAIVE THE FIRST AND SECOND <br />READINGS AND ORDER THE PUBLICATION OF AN AMENDMENT TO THE <br />CITY'S MASSAGE ORDINANCE. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Benke stated that this business is located in an older commercial building which was <br />grand fathered in due to zoning issues.
