Gundlach stated that the scale shown on the plans in the <br />packet is not correct. She added that the Engineering Department did not believe that the fifty <br />foot requirement could be met. Zisla replied that if the third access is added, there is a high <br />chance that people will enter the wrong way and misuse the entrance. Mann inquired if the turn <br />around loop would be large enough to accommodate larger vehicles. The purpose <br />of this amendment is to allow directory style signs on the SE diagonal and north faces of <br />the building at 500 5th Avenue NW, which would give tenants who request more <br />exposure from north and south bound traffic on 5th Avenue NW. The applicant is also <br />requesting two minor amendments to the existing language in an effort to have the <br />written regulations comply with current window signage practices. <br /> <br />The applicant received a Special Use Permit for a Comprehensive Sign Plan on May 22, <br />200 I. This plan has been amended several times since, with the most recent amendment <br />being approved on January 25, 2005. The purpose of a Comprehensive Sign Plan is to be <br />sensitive to specific types of projects within the City, including shopping centers, where <br />the general sign requirements of Article 9 of the Zoning Code do not satisfy identification <br />needs. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />The overall development includes a mixture of uses including commercial, office, and <br />residential; subsequently, the applicant has gained approval for a variety of signs to serve <br />the mix of uses.
