<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Council Proceedings <br />May 23, 1995 <br /> <br />Council Business. continued <br /> <br />Williams and Samuelson both feel the appropriation could be applied either way. <br /> <br />Motion by Benke, seconded by Gunderman, to TAKE THE FUNDS FOR THE <br />STORMW ATER DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENT FOR THE DRIVING <br />RANGE/DAHLKE TRAILER PROPERTIES FROM THE REDEVELOPMENT <br />ACCOUNT AND BE IDENTIFIED AS A LIABILITY EVENT IN THE CASE <br />OF FUTURE REDEVELOPMENT OF THE SITE. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Announcements and Updates <br /> <br />Fulton said the Legislature's property tax freeze was not passed, however, there will <br />be a $16 million decrease in municipal state aid funds and of that amount $8-9 million <br />will be shared by municipalities. This decrease will be in effective for one year and <br />the aid will be restored to current levels after that time. Tax increment financing <br />restrictions have been removed and this is very positive for New Brighton. The <br />Metropolitan Livability bill which will provide incentives to municipalities who <br />provide affordable housing was approved. The fiscal disparities bill was veto by the <br />Governor. <br /> <br />Basic Industries will consolidate their operations to California and will impact 70 <br />employees. Leadership Breakfast <br /> <br />The AMM annual meeting will be May 31. AMM <br /> <br />The Rehabilicare open house will be held May 24. Rehabilicare <br /> <br />Larson noted the Parks Department lawnmover which has only 120 hours of usage Park Mower <br />time needs to be replaced. He feels the City should not purchase equipment from this <br />manufacturer again. Fulton said the City Attorney is contacting the manufacturer <br />regarding recourse. Staff is working towards the replacement of this mower. <br /> <br />Metropolitan Councilmember Patrick Leung has resigned his position.
