Council Meeting Minutes
August 23, 1994

Page 7

I

Council Business. continued

Fulton presented the award of bid for the installation of cable/cable data conduit
between the City Hall and the Family Service Center (FSC).

Council recently approved the purchase and installation of a new telephone system
for all City facilities. Haigh, Todd and Associates was hired to establish system
requirements, assist in selection of vendor and products, and assist in designing and
managing the system. Because the same trench will be used between the City Hall
and FSC, it is feasible to include the network computer cabling into the project.

Three proposals were received. The estimated budget for telephone wiring ranged
from $10,925-$12,400. The resultant bid of $14,058.85 for telephone is over the
anticipated bid because the cabling distance between City Hall and FSC was much
higher, and additional service points were identified within the FSC. Also, an
electrical code violation was discovered with the existing wiring system and the cost
to correct this would be $2,953.24.

Motion by Larson, seconded by Benke, to APPROVE THE BID AND
AUTIJORIZE WORK FOR TELEPHONE AND COMPUTER CABLING
BETWEEN THE CITY HALL AND FAMILY SERVICE CENTER AND
WITHIN THE FAMILY SERVICE CENTER TO METRO
COMMUNICATIONS IN THE AMOUNT OF $17,012.09.

I 5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried.

Benke said Council will reconvene into a budget worksession immediately after the
meeting, he suggested Report No. 94-201, Reorganization of Advisory
Commissions, be deferred to a future meeting. Because of the importance of the
term limits issue, the item should be deferred to provide for ample discussion time.

Gunderman has concerns regarding the term limits issue and agrees the item should
be deferred.

Motion by Benke, seconded by Gunderman, to DEFER THE
REORGANIZATION OF THE ADVISORY COMMISSIONS REPORT TO
THE SEPTEMBER 27, 1994, COUNCIL MEETING.

5 Ayes ~ 0 Nayes, Motion Carried.

The Primary Election conflicts with the September 13 Council Meeting, and it is
proposed the meeting be moved to September 12.
