<br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />May 24, 1994 <br /> <br />Page 8 <br /> <br />Council Business. continued <br /> <br />The existing Granular Activated Carbon Water Treatment facility is a 9,540 sq. ft. <br />area consisting of a 7,600 sq. ft. room that houses the carbon contractor vessels. A <br />1,980 sq. ft. section would be located in the proposed building and used for office <br />space, equipment, and controls. The 14,740 sq. ft. addition would be attached to <br />the west side of the existing building. The addition would house equipment used to <br />remove iron and manganese from the system. The addition and existing structure <br />complies with setback requirements and the standards for a special use permit. <br /> <br />Benke requested that appropriate vegetation be installed to screen that addition from <br />adjacent properties. <br /> <br />Staff will contact Williams in regards to the construction schedule. <br /> <br />Motion by Larson, seconded by Williams, to WAIVE THE READING AND <br />ADOPT THE RESOLUTION APPROVING SP~183; AND APPROVE LP-290. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Locke presented for consideration the purchasing of land at 878 - 5th Avenue NW. <br /> <br />Since the City entered into a contract with Rottlund Homes, staff has been <br />negotiating with the property owners of these parcels. An agreement has been <br />reached on the New Brighton Auto Body property, owned by Larry Peterson. The <br />City appraisal estimated the building and land value at $163,000 and immovable <br />fixtures at $4,765 for a total of $167,765. The Peterson's are willing to sell their <br />property for $185,000 plus relocation, and they are eligible for $50,000 in <br />relocation assistance. Staff recommends the City accept the Peterson proposal. <br /> <br />Motion by Gunderman, seconded by Larson, to WAIVE THE READING AND <br />ADOPT THE RESOLUTION APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING PURCHASE <br />OF THE LAND AT 878 5TH AVENUE NW, NEW BRIGHTON. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Locke presented for consideration the creation of TIP District #24. <br /> <br />Mike Gould of G & P Properties has secured a purchase agreement for the Rice <br />Creek Center and plan to build new senior housing, senior center and reconfigured <br />retail space.
