April 6, 1994.

Special Order of Business

Benke PROCLAIMED MAY 12, 1994 AS ERICKSON'S NEW MARKEl' DAY
IN HONOR OF BEING SELECTED AS NEW BRIGHTON'S BUSINFSS OF
THE YEAR.

Benke noted that Me. Thomas Harkins has requested an audience before the Council
to discuss concerns relating to the proposed raised median between 5th and 7th .__
Streets on Silver Lake Road. Council also received individual letters from-residents
concerning this median.

Thomas Harkins, 584 Silver Lake Road, is representing a group of concerned
residents living along 5th and 7th St. on Silver Lake Road and others living on
neighboring streets. Harkins provided a petition requesting an amendment to the
Silver Lake Road Reconstruction Project1Right-of-way Plan which would replace the
raised median with painted lines between 5th and 7th St. This two block area is
unique because all the homes face Silver Lake Road, and installation of the median
would deny access in both directions to these homes and limit movements to right
turns only. Also, the residents support the lowering of speed levels along Silver
Lake Road to 35 mph, and feel the raised median would only increase those speeds.

Council A~enda

Council Minutes

Commission Minutes

Special Order of
Business

Erickson's New
Market Business of
the Year Award
Report 94-102

Silver Lake Road
Raised Median
Report 94-103
