<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS <br /> <br />CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> <br />.. l. .~_. <br /> <br />Pursuant to notice thereof, a regular meeting of the New Brighton City Council was held Monday, December 20, <br />1993, at 7:30 p.m. in the municipal building, 803 Fifth Avenue NW. <br /> <br />Present: Mayor Benke, Councilmembers Gunderman (arrived 7:45 p.m.), Larson, Rebelein and Williams. <br /> <br />Absent: None <br /> <br />Also Present: Margaret Egan, Finance Director <br />Matthew Fulton, City Manager <br />Jill Hanson, Economic Development Specialist <br />Kevin Locke, Community Development Director <br /> <br />Council A~enda <br /> <br />Motion by Larson, seconded by Williams, to APPROVE THE COUNCIL <br />AGENDA. <br /> <br />4 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Council Minutes <br /> <br />Motion by Williams, seconded by Rebelein, to WAIVE THE READING AND <br />APPROVE THE DECEMBER 8, 1993, COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES. <br /> <br />4 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Commission Minutes - None <br /> <br />Soecial Order of Business <br /> <br />Mayor Benke noted the recent passing of Bernard Skrebes who was a former Mayor <br />of New Brighton and active participant on many Boards and Commissions. He <br />noted that many had learned much from Mr. Skrebes, and extended his condolences <br />to the Skrebes family. <br /> <br />Benke noted that Rebelein will be stepping down from the Council at the end of the <br />year. A reception was held prior to the Council meeting to recognize her many <br />contributions to the City. <br /> <br />Mayor Benke PROCLAIMED THE WEEK OF DECEMBER 20, 1993, AS <br />DANA REBELEIN WEEK IN THE CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON. <br /> <br />Rebelein said that her eight years on the Council have been a tremendous <br />experience, and it was her privilege to serve the residents in that capacity. The <br />years were full of many difficult decisions, but also outstanding improvements for <br />the City. She enjoyed working with the residents; and noted the excellent merits of <br />the City's boards and commissions. She feels the renovation of the downtown area <br />will serve the community well and looks forward to its completion. She especially <br />thanked her colleagues, the Councilmembers, for educating, listening, respecting and <br />working with her over the past eight years. She feels the newly elected <br />Council member Char Samuelson will perform an excellent job.
