<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />il <br /> <br />COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS <br /> <br />CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> <br />Pursuant to notice thereof, a regular meeting of the New Brighton City Council was held Tuesday, June <br />22, 1993, at 7:30 p.m. in the municipal building, 803 Fifth Avenue NW. <br /> <br />Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Benke. Councilmembers Gunderman, Larson, Rebelein and Williams. <br /> <br />Absent: <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />David Childs, City Manager <br />Jill Hanson, Economic Development Specialist <br />John Kelley, Police Chief <br />Charlie LeFevere, City Attorney <br />Kevin Locke, Community Development Director <br />Erny Mattila. City Planner <br /> <br />Council Aaenda <br /> <br />Motion by Gunderman, seconded by Rebelein, to APPROVE THE COUNCIL <br />AGENDA. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Council Minutes <br /> <br />Motion by Williams. seconded by Larson, to WAIVE THE READING AND <br />APPROVE THE JUNE 7 AND 8,1993, COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Commission Minutes <br /> <br />Mayor Benke, with Council consent, received the minutes of the Economic <br />Development Commission - June 8, 1993. <br /> <br />Soecial Order of Business <br /> <br />The City is sponsoring the 6th Annual Community Recognition Event on <br />July 6 at the Hansen Park Picnic Pavilion. <br /> <br />Mayor Benke PROCLAIMED JULY 6, 1993. AS COMMUNITY VOLUNTEERS <br />RECOGNITION DAY IN THE CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON. <br /> <br />Council thanked the Rotary Club for their donation to provide a storyteller <br />for the Tykes and Tots Program. <br /> <br />Council Aaenda <br /> <br />Council Minutes <br /> <br />Commission Minutes <br /> <br />Soecial Order of <br />Business <br /> <br />Community <br />Recognition Event <br /> <br />Storyteller <br /> <br />State Representative Geri Evans explained two pieces of legislation which Geri Evans Update <br />had local interest. One bill which was passed enabled New Brighton to <br />contract for the procurement, installation and removal of granular activated <br />carbon used at the water treatment plant without requiring a bond. The <br />other bill would had authorized local governments to impose 25 mph speed <br />limits on residential roads less than 1/4 mile in length, but was vetoed by <br />the Governor. <br />
