I

I

I

COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS

CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON

Pursuant to notice thereof, a regular meeting of the New Brighton City Council was held Tuesday,
January 26, 1993, at 7:30 p.m. in the municipal building, 803 Fifth Avenue NW.

Present:

Mayor Benke, Councilmembers Gunderman, Larson, Rebelein and Williams.

Absent: None

Also Present: Jill Hanson, Economic Development Specialist
Barbara Jeanetta, Assistant to the City Manager
Charlie leFevere, City Attorney
Erny Mattila, City Planner

Council Agenda . We are
living in a world that includes military and diplomatic confrontation in the
mid-east, ethnic atrocities in eastern Europe where many of our families
have sisters and brothers, aunts and uncles, cousins and friends struggling
for life and freedom. We have sons and daughters on a humanitarian
mission in Somalia. We are living in a world meeting the challenge of
rebuilding societies that have survived communist domination despite all
odds. What an inspiring, yet humbling era, this should be for those of us
, enjoying the relative peace and affluence of the United States of America.

Our national context has changed dramatically in this past few months.
We have seen the election and inauguration of a new President. He will be
working with a new generation of senators and representatives elected with
a fundamental mission that can be summarized in one message --
changel Change nowl Change the way government operates so that our
children and grandChildren can enjoy the fruits of our democracy. Voter
confidence, once shaken, now seems to be rebounding. Once again
problems of people in cities are coming into focus.

Council Minutes

Soecial Order of
Busin~~~

State of the City
Address
