<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />November 24, 1992 <br /> <br />Page 11 <br /> <br />Council Business, continued <br /> <br />Benke feels the following should be further examined: traffic assumptions, <br />transit compatibility and Apache bus hub, four lane or three lane design, <br />bicycle objectives, sidewalk placement, and landscaping. <br /> <br />Williams said Council should discuss further the objectives and needs in <br />order to incorporate a design for Silver lake Road. <br /> <br />Proper said in order for a three lane road to be feasible, right turn lanes <br />need to be added, and this would essentially represent a same width road, <br />but striped differently. <br /> <br />Benke said the County plan includes many positive issues and supports the <br />wishes and objectives expressed tonight. <br /> <br />Williams requested Council to ask MNDot for a review of the speed limit. <br />Benke said traffic lights could also be programmed to reduce speed levels. <br />In his opinion, Mr. Soler feels the State, upon review of speed levels, would <br />not make any changes to the 40 mph posting. <br /> <br />Motion by Benke, seconded by larson, to CONTINUE DISCUSSION OF THE <br />SILVER LAKE ROAD RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT; DIRECT STAFF TO <br />WORK WITH THE COUNTY TO REQUEST MNDOT TO STUDY THE <br />REDUCTION OF SPEED LEVELS TO 35 MPH ON SILVER LAKE ROAD; <br />REVIEW TRAFFIC DATA AND TRANSIT SIDEWALK AND BIKEWAY <br />RELATIONSHIPS; AND INITIATE REVIEW OF FORECASTING DATA. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried <br /> <br />In the interim, Benke suggested that Council determine its goals and <br />objectives and meet with Silver Lake Road residents to discuss <br />accomplishment of these objectives. <br /> <br />Adiournment <br /> <br />Motion by Williams, seconded by Rebelein, to ADJOURN THE MEETING. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Meeting was adjourned at 11 :40 p.m. <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />ATTEST:~" <br />"m~ <br /> <br />Margaret A.
