<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />September 8, 1992 <br /> <br />Page 5 <br /> <br />Council Business. continued <br /> <br />Motion by Gunderman, seconded by larson, to WAIVE THE READING AND <br />ADOPT THE PROPOSED 1993 BUDGET AND MAXIMUM TAX LEVY AND <br />SCHEDULE THE BUDGET PUBLIC HEARING ON DECEMBER 15, 1992. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />City Engineer Les Proper presented for consideration miscellaneous park <br />capital improvement projects. <br /> <br />In August, Allied Blacktop was chosen for the Hansen Park trail <br />rehabilitation project. The work is going very well and Allied agreed to a <br />change order which includes other park improvement projects. This is an <br />economical way to handle small projects. All projects are included in the <br />Capital Improvement Plan. The projects would be performed this fall. <br /> <br />Motion by Williams, seconded by larson, to APPROVE CHANGE ORDER #1 <br />FOR THE MISCELLANEOUS PARK CAPITAL PROJECTS WITH ALLIED <br />BLACKTOP COMPANY IN THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF $23,492.30. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Announcements and Updates <br /> <br />Suburban Rate Authority received final action on the U.S. West rate case. <br />The total savings for residential and business tiers would be $3.2 million. <br />This is a very successful case and will benefit the suburban membership. <br /> <br />September 9 is D.A.R.E. Day at Sunnyside School. The New Brighton <br />Police D.A.R.E. Van, which was donated by Minar Ford, will be on exhibit. <br /> <br />A report was received from the Minnesota Association of Non-smokers <br />which stated a sting operation was conducted in area cities, including New <br />Brighton. Of 24 New Brighton stores, fourteen had sold cigarettes to <br />minors.
