<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />August 25, 1992 <br /> <br />Page 7 <br /> <br />Council Business. continued <br /> <br />Childs presented the postponement of the purchase of Mobile Data <br />Terminals (MDT). <br /> <br />Previously, Council approved the purchase of MDT's to upgrade the City's <br />Police and Fire emergency communications technology as part of the <br />contract for public safety dispatching with Ramsey County. <br /> <br />The City's current 1992 dispatching services cost $36,220. However, in <br />1993 it will increase to $52,520 because Ramsey County plans to add two <br />dispatchers to their budget. <br /> <br />Because of the increase, staff investigated options to meet the City's <br />dispatching needs. The City solicited bids from Maplewood, St. Paul, <br />Hennepin County and Anoka County. If the City purchases the MDT's now <br />and later finds that it wishes to contract with Maplewood, Hennepin or <br />Anoka Counties, the City may find that its terminals are incompatible with <br />their systems. Staff should have an idea on how to approach the MDT's <br />purchase in about four months. <br /> <br />Motion by Gunderman, seconded by Rebelein, to AUTHORIZE THE <br />POSTPONEMENT OF THE PURCHASE OF MOBilE DATA TERMINALS. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Announcements and Ucdates <br /> <br />1991 Stockyard Days Junior Commodore Ronald Wachter was chosen <br />1992 Minneapolis Aquatennial Junior Vice Commodore. <br /> <br />Mayor Benke PROCLAIMED AUGUST 30. 1992, AS RONALD WACHTER <br />DA Y IN THE CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON. <br /> <br />The 1992 Stockyard Days and Antique Car Run Events are underway. <br /> <br />On August 27, 7:00 p.m., the Association of Minnesota Municipalities will <br />sponsor a meeting to discuss the Metro Governance Report. <br /> <br />Mr. Matt presented gifts to the Council from the Ulverstone Council. <br /> <br />Adiournment <br /> <br />Motion by Larson, seconded by Williams, to ADJOURN THE MEETING. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Meeting was adjourned at 8:40 p.m. <br /> <br />~~ <br /> <br />Robert J.
