<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />July 28, 1992 <br /> <br />Page 10 <br /> <br />Council Business. continued <br /> <br />Childs said MacGillis & Gibbs has been cooperative, but their environmental <br />liens exceeds the property value by more than 5 times and the site does <br />contain water and soil contamination problems. The MPCA and Federal <br />PCA are moving painfully slow, but he sees the moratorium as a way to <br />speed the cleanup and give the City long awaited answers needed to make <br />an intelligent decision on the site's future. <br /> <br />Motion by Gunderman, seconded by Larson, to WAIVE THE READING AND <br />ADOPT THE INTERIM ORDINANCE FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROTECTING <br />THE PLANNING PROCESS AND THE HEALTH, SAFETY AND WELFARE OF <br />THE COMMUNITY, AND REGULATING CONSTRUCTION AND <br />DEVELOPMENTS ON CERTAIN CONTAMINATED SITES IN THE CITY. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Announcements & Uodates <br /> <br />Larson received a call from a resident suggesting elimination of the <br />overnight parking ordinance. He spoke to Council, staff and other residents <br />regarding changing the ordinance and found that 66 to 2 are in favor of <br />leaving the ordinance as is. <br /> <br />Excellent comments have been received on the County Road H sidewalk. <br /> <br />New Brighton Junior Commodore Ronald Wachter was appointed 1993 <br />Minneapolis Aquatennial Junior Vice Commodore. Dick Pellow received the <br />1993 Distinguished Skipper Award. Williams suggested a future <br />Stockyards Days event to name the outstanding young woman in New <br />Brighton. Benke noted that Stockyard Days Royalty representatives <br />demonstrate these traits, and feels this is an excellent idea. <br /> <br />Adiournment <br /> <br />Motion by Benke, seconded by Larson, to ADJOURN THE MEETING. <br /> <br />5-Ayes - 0 Nayes.
