Jacobson, Director of Public Safety , <br /> <br /> <br />CITY MANAGER'S APPROVAL: <br /> <br />No comments to su lement this re <br /> <br /> <br />f\,41rk' <br />Comments attached <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />Approval of the grant agreement with the Commissioner of Public Safety, Oivision of Homeland <br />Security and Emergency Management (HSEM). <br /> <br />Legislative History: <br /> <br />Federal funds are provided by the United States Department of Homeland Security, Office of <br />Domestic Preparedness, through the 2004 Homeland Security Grant Program, Citizen Corps <br />Program, Award Number 2004-TU-T4-0200, <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br /> <br />The City will receive $25,000 to purchase equipment for the Public Safety Center and <br />Emergency Operations Center (EOC) that will increase communications and training capabilities <br />and enhance security. This is not a matching grant and the City budget will not be impacted. <br /> <br />Explanation: <br /> <br />The MN Department of Public Safety, Division of Homeland Security and Emergency <br />Management and the City of New Brighton have a long history of working together to include a <br />an agreement to serve as the State ofMN Alternate Emergency Operations Center. The Public <br />Safety Center and the EOe continue to have equipment needs that further enhance the <br />communications capabilities, training environment, and security needs. Deputy Director Olson <br />along with IT members Bruce Johnson and Andre Barte have worked with HSEM to identify <br />equipment to further enhance our EOe. The equipment to be purchased with this grant includes <br />a web conference unit, upgrade to wireless access, upgrade security for the subnet (firewall), an <br />additional 37 inch screen monitor for the training room, an additional camera for the web <br />conferencing, and an additional fax/printer for the EOC. <br /> <br />AI, <br />}/'11 <br /> <br />Robe .
