This intersection will bring headlights <br />into his windows, increase speeds levels and decrease the safety factor. <br />He feels installing a median in front of his home would protect from an <br />automobile hitting his home. <br /> <br />les Proper. City Engineer, said the original intersection was very wide and <br />cars did regularly cut the corner at very fast speeds. Staff recognized this <br />problem and redesigned and narrowed the intersection. Also, a pine tree <br />was planted to help block the headlights. These changes should reduce <br />the speed and increase safety levels. <br /> <br />larson feels adding more trees would shield the headlights and give added <br />protection to Mr. Martin's residence. Benke feels this is the best <br />alternative to remedy the situation. <br /> <br />Announcements and Uodates <br /> <br />A Citizen league Property Tax Study compared 95 Metro Area cities <br />property taxes on a $90,000 home. The taxes on a $90,000 New <br />Brighton home was rated 12th highest out of the 95 surveyed. Childs <br />noted that only a few dollars separated 12th place from 30th place. If, <br />however. only the City's share of the tax rate is considered, New <br />Brighton's tax capacity rate is 13th from the lowest among all Metro <br />cities. This will be published in the next issue of "In the Neiahborhood". <br /> <br />Council Business <br /> <br />Walter Martin <br /> <br />Announcements & <br />Uodates <br /> <br />Tax Capacity Rate <br /> <br />The Association of Metropolitan Municipalities will host their regional AMM Meeting <br />breakfast on July 1 6 in Arden Hills. <br /> <br />A special reception recognizing Benke's term as league of Minnesota Benke Reception <br />Cities President will be held July 16. <br /> <br />On July 10 Councils from Fridley, New Brighton, Mounds View, and Senior Programs <br />Spring Lake Park will review a preliminary report on possible joint ventures <br />of senior citizen programs. <br /> <br />Shoreview, Arden Hills, New Brighton. Mounds View. St. Anthony, and Co-op Ventures <br />Ramsey County will meet July 24 to discuss cooperative ventures. <br /> <br />Adiournment Adjournment <br /> <br />Motion by larson, seconded by Williams, to ADJOURN THE MEETING. <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />Robert J.
